"Streets for cyclists" are an informal group of bicycle activists in Belgrade,  which started to gather in April 2011. and to organize group bicycle rides through the center of Belgrade.

Every last saturday of a month, by group cycling we are trying to draw attention to the presence of cyclists and our increasing numbers in traffic.  We ride trough the central urban core, on the established route, in the way of "Critical Mass" rides that are held in more than 350 cities around the world.

"Streets for cyclists" was launched by Maximilian Sagmüller, EVS volunteer in an NGO "Smile", with the help of local cycling organizations.

"Street for cyclists" are lead by the notion that cycling is good for our health, while not polluting the air, and makes no noise in the traffic. It is the most effective, sustainable way of transportation in cities.  

With our mass rides, we gather to inspire and encouraged the citizens of Belgrade to cycle through the city.  By law in Serbia, cyclists are legitimate participants in traffic, but Belgrade doesn't have an adequate road infrastructure that would allow cyclists to safely use the roads. Belgrade's city cycling is marginalized and infrastructurally expelled from the city and the main roads, to the shores of the rivers Sava and Danube. In this sense, cycling in Belgrade is considered a recreational activity, but not the way to commute in the city.

Activists of 'Streets for cyclists "promote bicycle as a way of commuting throughout the whole territory of Belgrade.  With our activities we aim to increase the presence of cyclists in traffic, and to inform cyclists about the dangers and possibilities of moving through Belgrade by bike. We also strive to support initiatives to build the appropriate infrastructure for cyclists in Belgrade.
