A Russian provocative street-art group known for its politically charged performance art.
Since the very beginning, Voina (a Russian term for 'war') has been involved in a variety of subversive actions which were a way of fighting against the police, the regime and the system.
The two most famous actions are the painting of a giant phallus on a drawbridge leading to the former KGB headquarters, and the overturning of the police car, which was the reason why Leonid Nikolayev and Oleg Vorotnikov, members of this radical art collective, ended up in jail. Banksy bailed them out, eventually.
