SHARE updates
It‘s just three days until the conference begins and the program is more stable than we expected. Redlight is the only artist who cancelled performance, and Roska will perform instead. However, in the last few days we received two other emails from guests scheduled for the day program, which saddened us a bit, whereas we feel the need and responsibility to share them with you.
Two Italian people are visiting SHARE in order to get married in the Church of Kopimism. Apparently, Isak Gerson, the founder of this church and our guest is bringing Gustav Nipe, a young member of the Pirate party, to perform the marriage ceremony. This is REALLY going to happen, believe it or not.
The Russian police issued arrest warrant for members of Russian activist group Voina, which was the reason they refused plane tickets from us, since they would probably be arrested right at the airport. Still, they say they will give their best to reach Belgrade in alternative ways in order to spend a few days with us.
Moot, the founder of 4-chan, expressed regret over not being able to attend the conference physically. However, both him and the founder of initiative ‘Freedom Box‘ - Eben Moglen, promised to take part via video link. We do not go into specific reasons for their absence, but we are sure that they, too, are sorry since they are officially part of the program with best recommendations, which is a great honor for us.
We believe that SHARE‘s audience understands that problems like these are sometimes unavoidable, and that no one will blame the management, which makes huge effort to bring together so many special people.
Katitza Rodriguez from Electronic Frontier Foundation is arriving today (she had to cancel her lecture last year), and over the last couple of days, we at SHARE have been preparing serious panel discussions with Bruce Sterling, Vuk Ćosić and Marcell Mars. It’s wonderful to see people who respect the work of others, who have had great influence on each other for years now and who spend hours and hours talking to each other and sharing ideas and impressions. We call this SHARE before SHARE.
And, last but not least, the leading geek tech magazine Wired showed interest in our conference and we’ll have the honor of hosting a very important person dealing with the spheres of hack culture, intellectual property and Internet on the whole – Quinn Norton. The abstract of her lecture sounds very serious and we’re sharing it with you.
